Charlize Theron has revealed that “The Boys” executive producer Seth Rogen offered her the cameo role way before Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige reached out to her for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” cameo.
The 46-year-old actress shared that she was “transparent” with Feige about her cameo in “The Boys” because both the projects were based on superheroes.
“I was very transparent [about The Boys], and they [Marvel Studios] were just like, ‘This is great.’ I mean, [The Boys is] a satire,” she told Variety in an interview published Sunday. “I think there’s room for everything, and it doesn’t mean anything other than people are interested in these kinds of worlds right now.”
She also shared her love for the Rogen and his team, adding, “Seth asked me a while back, and I will lay my body over broken glass for that guy and all of his partners at Point Gray, I absolutely love them, and we look after each other.” The actress also noted that the show is “really smart” and she is fond of it.
“The Boys” revolves around a bunch of superheroes who abuse their superpowers. Marvel, on the other hand, always features superheroes who are doing good for society and use their powers to save the world.
The first season of “The Boys” was aired in 2019 and Theron appeared in the third season, which was dropped on June 3, this year. The show is streaming on Amazon Prime.
Whereas, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was dropped on May 6 in theatres. The flick was helmed by director Sam Raimi and it stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Xochitl Gomez and Benedict Wong.
Considering Theron’s upcoming movies, the actress will be next seen in a Netflix movie, “The School for Good and Evil,” which is slated to release in September this year. She will also feature in the highly anticipated movie “Fast X,” which is scheduled for May 19, next year.
She will also reprise her characters for hotly anticipated sequels – “The Old Guard 2” and “Atomic Blonde 2.”
